The program crashed when I tried to connect to any FTP servers.

Can you uninstall the Japanese language addon and then try again?

Uninstalled Japanese language and tried again but same result. Crashed with the same message.

Does it crash if you open a new connection to a server? menu: File->New Remote Browser. Then ftp.smartftp.com, FTP, anonymous?

Yes, it does. Crashed both when using the address bar or from the file menu.
