Vista: How to change ftp:// protocol attitude

Hello everybody,

I wanted to change the attitude of my Vista Business if I use the protocol ftp://, but I can't change it.

I allready found the place to change filetyps and protocols in Vista, but it's only possible to change the filetyp programms, not the once for protocols.

Is there any one out there how can help me.

Hello ...

You cannot change it to SmartFTP and it's not recommended to change the ftp URL moniker. The easiest way is to copy the url to the clipboard which will trigger the SmartFTP url watcher.

Ok - Thank you for your help.

It would have been easier - so one more expierence more about vista, what makes me think of downgrading again to xp.

I'm not sure why you relate this to Vista as the same thing cannot be easily changed on any Windows operating system.

But there was a easy way in XP for example - there is a howto on the smartftp site:

I think its because Vista tries to be more secure

I see. However I'm not sure if this is actually working on XP?
