Files will not upload

I sign on to the server, but when I go to upload the files I want it will just sit there for hours searching for existing files...I know for a fact my server does not have many files on it, about for or five at the max, its brand new. I also know that the files I am trying to upload are not on the server yet. Why is it taking so long to check this?

Well, now it is in the queue, but it will not let me start the transefer and it has like little 'zz's' that are in a bubble next to it. this is what the log shows:
