tranfer problem - will not transfer files

Hello,

I've been using an older version of SmartFTP, downloaded 5 months ago, without a problem. I recently wiped my hard drive and installed the latest version of SmartFTP only to find out that it doesn't transfer files anymore.

So far, I've tried both active and passive modes, checked the que to hit play (nothing is in que), turned my firewall completely off, stopped the application layer gateway service, turned off my virus protection, and removed and installed the complete SmartFTP installation. Nothing has made any difference and I've never had a problem like this with past versions.

Any help is appreciated. Here is the log and system info.

Thanks,

Eric

post the log from the transfer queue.

post the log from the transfer queue.

Thanks for replying, Matt.

I looked at the queue and there is nothing there. I don't know exactly how to find the "transfer queue log," but I will try to get you some information ASAP.

Unfortunately, I am at work and not able to post this info until 10 hours from now. Also, I apologize for taking so long to reply as this topic's email notification was sent to my bulk mail folder.

Best regards,

Eric

Some users reported similar problems and it turned out that the cause was another application which was installed on the system which prevented the drag&drop function in SmartFTP from working correctly. In most of those cases it was the bluetooth driver/application. If you have a bluetooth driver/application installed try to uninstall it.

Regards,
Mat

I do not have a bluetooth driver or bluetooth application installed. The only drivers I have installed are:

ATI display driver
DVD-RAM driver
REALTEK ethernet driver
REALTEK audio driver
Synaptics pointing device driver

Here is the screenshot: http://www.mediafire.com/?ul12l7t9t9z

I tried the 2 downloads provided and still nothing will transfer.

Also, my system has 192MB of memory and the majority is free. The other day, I wiped my hard drive to "out-of-the-box" state and deleted all the factory installed garbage.

Eric

Well I take that back. My physical memory is 194MB with 46MB available, but when I have SmartFTP running, the MB available drops down to about 20MB.

It was just a wild guess that the low memory could be the cause.

Do you have an old version from about 6 months ago that I could try to install? This is the version I was using (with no problems) before I wiped my hard drive and installed the new version.

I must admit, though, that I really want to use the new version! I like the new features.

I will stick with the new version and I hope we can get it working soon though. I appreciate all your help, Mat.

Thanks!

Eric

Since drivers were mentioned, I thought I would show all the devices listed in the device manager. Check out the screenshots to see if anything is out of the ordinary or may be causing my inability to transfer files problem.

Thank you,

Eric

Well...

After installing the newest version of SmartFTP on a friend's laptop with 512MB memory and 222MB available, it is working great! So, it appears that Mat's idea of having too low of memory could cause you problems running the newest version of SmartFTP.

Thanks for your help, Mat. The new version rocks!

Eric
