Failed to create task. Error: 0x80070002
Problem
When a scheduled task is created, the following error is shown:
Failed to create task. Error: 0x80070002
Cause
The error comes from the operating system (task scheduler) and means that the task file cannot be found:
ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND: The system cannot find the file specified.
There are different causes why the task file cannot be created:
Leftover Tasks
During an operating system upgrade, existing scheduled tasks are migrated and copies of them are left in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Tasks_Migrated folder. Under some circumstances some tasks fail to migrate and therefore do not show up in the Windows task scheduler. Now creating a new task will fail if there is an existing task with the exact same task name.
Solution
Use a different name for the task.
