Problem

User authentication failed.

HRESULT error: CONNECTION_E_AUTHENTICATION (0x80044450)

Cause

This error comes from the server. It does not allow you to login with the provided username and password. The reasons could be an incorrect username/password combination or a problem with the account.

Solution

• Double check your username/password (e.g. is Caps lock disabled?).
  The username/password information is usually provided by the party managing the server. To obtain the correct information or to reset the password, contact the server administrator. 
• Ensure that you have entered the correct hostname.

Once you have obtained the correct information and ensured that everything is in order with the account, open a new connection: menu: File - New Connection.
