SmartFTP freezes when opening, listing directory

I just upgraded to 3.0 from 2.0 since the old version would only open once in every ten attempts. Now I find that 3.0 opens every time, but it freezes while apparently trying to show me the directory listing for "My Computer". If I wait half an hour or so, it will finish whatever it is doing and let me use the FTP portion of the program, but I am just not that patient. I have downloaded the latest available copy as of 4/19/2008. I'm using Windows XPSP2.
