Updating fails: load license error 0x80090006

I just tried to upgrade from 4.0.1211 to 4.0.1241. I installed over the old version. When asked for the license key, I provided the one received on 9/9/2011, which should still be good, but I get this error:

Failed to load license. Error=0x80090006.
