Directory Listing - iNEWS Server

Hi,

When i connected to an iNEWS Server, SmartFTP doesn't have any problem to show the listing (1.1.987.4), but with the latest version 1.5.988), it doesn't show the listing anymore!

Is there a place where i can download an older version?

Regards,

mm

Please post the raw listing of the directory. Right-click on the folder/directory in the remoteview and then choose "Show Raw Listing" from the context menu. It will help us to fix the problem.

You can also send the raw listing to sales attt smartftp.com

Thanks a lot for your contribution.
Regards,
-Mat

Hm the parser doesn't have a problem decoding the lines.

Can you post the log of your FTP session as well?

What version of SmartFTP are you using? menu: Help->About "System Information"

Do you have the "Show All files" listing option enabled?
Settings->Transfer

The SmartFTP FTP Parser can sucessfully decode the file listing. Therefore I dont think its a problem with the parser itself.

Please send the complete log including the "LIST ..." command.

Regards,
-Mat

The log that i already sent is the complete log. SmartFTP doesn't generates a LIST command when i logged in these iNEWS servers (SmartFTP 1.5 and later).

When i do a "Show Raw Listing", SmartFTP generates a "LIST -aL" in the log pane"

I already checked the "Show All Files" in the preferences/favorites.

The iNews server doesn't return the absolute path in the PWD command. The RFC doesn't say anything specific about the PWD reply. But one would expect the FTP server to return an absolute path if it identifies itself as UNIX L8 compliant.

The "correct" reply would be:
PWD
257 "/CALENDAR" is the current directory.

Edited: I've sent an email to iNEWS regarding this "problem". If I hear anything back from them I will let you know.

The latest version (1.5.988.41 or higher) of the SmartFTP client:
https://www.smartftp.com/download
now automatically adds a / at the beginning of the directory if it's missing and the server identifies itself as UNIX.

This should fix the problem with the iNEWS server.

Regards,
-Mat

It works correctly when we connect to the server (list all the folders), but doesn't work if i change directory.

    CWD /CALENDAR/.MB

    CWD /CALENDAR/.NB

The correct way to change directory with the iNEWS server is to separate the folder with a dot. The root folder doesn't need a backslash at the beginning.

Example
To change to the root folder and then a sub-folder:
CWD CALENDAR.AB

To change to a subfolder:
CWD .AB

I have my serious doubts what developers are thinking when implementing their FTP server.

Does any FTP client support their non-standard implementation at all?

Thanks
-Mat

Hello ...

Please test it again with the latest build:
https://www.smartftp.com/download

It should build the paths correctly which should result in correct CWD commands.

Is it possible to use a full qualified path to a file? If so, how?

Thank you.
-Mat

I have the same problems as my previous log.

Please post the log.

Thank you.

You should see "Detetected Server Software: iNEWS" after the SYST reply.

Thank you for your time.
-Mat

Exactly. It shows Detected Server Software: iNEWS after the SYST command with build 47.

It's almost perfect, just don't add a "dot" between the folder, because the folder already have a dot before (Ex: CWD ASSIGNMENT.AB).
