What does it mean when I try to download multiple files in Global Queue and in the lower left hand corner and in the connections tab (both in transfers section) the status says "idle"?

I can download a single file with a "direct" connection.

What should my "Threads"____ and "KBS/Thread"____ settings be?

The idle means there is no activity taking place, such as no files are downloading or uploading. So your connection to the server is idle.

If you wish to see a log of the file transfer, this can be done by right-clicking the file from the "Global Queue" tab, and selecting "Show Log" from the "Names" column.

Now you asked about setting the thread feature for the "Global Queue". This basically depends on the server, if it can handle many connections. Meaning has the administrator of the server given you the permission to download more than one file (thread) at a time from the server. Some server admin's set a limit.

For the KB/s. This option allows you to set the kilobytes per connection (thread) that takes place. This is a user preferred setting, it's best you experiment to see which best suits your connection download speed.
