Slow ftp

Yesterday I updated maintenance and paid for three years.
Things are now painfully slow - each item stays in the Transfer Queue for ages and sometimes wont upload at all. Before updating things uploaded almost instantly. Something, that I don't understand, has changed!

A couple of times it wasn't uploading at all and I have logged in to my domain suppliers' site and upload from there.

I have tried repairing SMART. Then getting the key from you, removing and reinstalling the software but all to no avail - if only I hadn't done anything yesterday!!

This is a log for today (over five minutes for four files totalling 150KB) - can anyone see what is going wrong and how to correct it? I've no idea why one file is even mentioned - 2007 Annual Presentation.htm - becuase it isn't in the transfer queue.

Please post the log from the transfer queue. To get it double click the file in the transfer queue (its most likely retrying due to transfer errors).

The same one I had before updating yesterday - Zone Alarm.

No its not the transfer log. To get it double click the file in the transfer queue.

And please post the system information from the menu: Help->About System information dialog.

Same description of problems i mentioned in my post. After 3 year upgrade from V3 to V4 i have problems.
Transfer brokes after 1 Minute and starts again.
Since yesterday i upload a 1.6 Megabyte file. Which normaly needs 2 Minutes.

Something is wrong with the V4 upgrade.
My problem is also still not solved.

I want that your realize that not iam the only one who has this problem.
I followed your instruction 100%ly, as i told you.
I deinstalled the virus software also the firewall. I deinstalled everything and installed it completly new. Nothing works.

I would love to solve the problem. I want work with it.
But for me it is sure that the Smartftp software starts the upload again and again and again...every 1 Minute.

I don't know how to uninstall Zone Alarm and I'm not sure that I want to!
It shows Smart as active and has smart all ticked green!

We are trying to figure out what's fault it is. That's why we are suggesting to (temporary) uninstall the software firewall and antivirus product.

Found out how to shut down Zone Alarm Firewall/AV but nothing much happens....

You would actually have to uninstall these products. Because as we have learned from the past that even if you disable them they are still active and hooked into the system.

Look, everything was okay with Zone Alarm running yesterday before I got smart ftp version four.
So, it isn't a fault of Zone Alarm - is it?

I would just like smartftp to work like it did before upgrading.

Of course I want to help - I would not be replying at 1am in the morning if I didn't think it may help! I was led to believe that removing a Firewall was dumb because it can let all sorts of problems in.

However I have now found out how to uninstal ZA and I will try things again after the restart ZA wants to do and let you know what happens then.

Another idea. Go to the menu: Tools->Settings. Then go to the Queue dialog and make sure the KBps/Worker value is set to 0 (and not to 1).

The bug was with the transfer limit. Setting it to 0 did work around the problem. But the bug has been fixed in the latest version now:
