I can't see all files in my directory

I have had trouble twice now with this type of issue.

1. When uploading over 4,000 images from my hard drive to the website I couldn't get past approximately 2,000 ... the balance refused to upload into the directory.

2. When attempting to view the files in the directory even though I know over 4,000 files exist only 1,998 are showing in the ftp remote screen.

Am I missing something? Help!

The server only inlucdes 2000 items in the directory listing which it sends back to the client. This is a server limit which your web hosting provider can increase.
