Unusually Slow?

Greetings

I recently bought a liscense for my work, after using SmartFTP for years of free use.

I am a full supporter of your project, and your wonderful FTP services thus far, and I thank your development team for such a great product.

Now, upon buying my liscense, and being able to use SmartFTP again (was running on a trial, and was prompted to purchase), I find SmartFTP to be unusually slow, much more slow from the trial version.

I also find that it freezes, and doesn't allow me to close the program when this happens, thus causing me to terminate the .EXE through the task manager.

I use this program for my job (graphic/web designer), and also for my personal use, and would apreciate any form of response, or help.

Many thanks,

- Kristen

Hello Kristen ..

What version of SmartFTP are you using? Please post the system information from the menu: Help->About "System Information" dialog.

Did you upgrade your version after you purchased a license?

Mat

I have also noticed when trying to connect to a server that has either the wrong Login, password or address, it freezes completely, and won't display the usual feed. I have to terminate the program.

Thanks. Try to delete/renamem the registry key at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SmartFTP\

using regedit.exe

Maybe this corrects the problem.

What would the registry key name be exactly? I'm not very familiar with registry changes.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SmartFTP\

To open regedit. Go to the start menu. Then click on Run... and enter regedit.exe

Sorry for the late reply, I was out of work due to having my wisdom teeth pulled.

Anyway, I can't delete the registry at this location, and I don't have the option to rename it (it's grayed out)

I am going to attempt to do a new install...

Are you logged in as administrator?

You have to delete the key on the left side in the tree view.

I deleted it and now everything seems refreshed.

The program loads much faster, and I think this has solved the slow joe problem

Thanks a lot for the assistance!
