Upgraded to V 3 and now slow login and upload

I switched to SmartFTP 6 months or so ago and registered.
Very fast and clean login and transfers to 6 different hosting sites.
Very satisfied.
This week I noticed an update to version 3.0 so I downloaded it.
What a mistake, can I go back?
multiple times to login, disconnects, sending a file to transfer que, then waiting 4 minutes to upload.
What is going on? The same with all my hosting companies.

I'll add one log that was halfway successful. Previously it may have taken 1 minute to login and transfer complete, now it's 4 minutes after it sends a file to the transfer que and 10 minutes from initial login, and that one went well.
It hangs after the initial "SYST" command, and especially the "Type A" command. I changed this host to active from passive now.
Please give me some advice or tell me how to go back. Thanks.

There seems to be a problem with your server that it times out after the SYST command. You can try to increase the timeout in the favorite settings Connection dialog from 40 seconds to 60 seconds (or higher). But your server should not take that long to send a reply. Try to contact the administrator if she/he knows why the server takes so long with the SYST command.
The problem is not related to version 3.0 because all versions of SmartFTP send the SYST command.

Mat

The older version 2.x has worked fine for months. Also, I upload to 6 different hosting companies and they all have the same problems.

If you think it is a problem with the version 3 you can downgrade to version 2.x:

Hello ..

You can try to change the buffer sizes at:
https://www.smartftp.com/support/kb/how- ... f2558.html

Are you sure you do not have any speed limits set in SmartFTP by mistake?

Hey ..

If you can post the logs we can probably see what's going on. I would appreciate if you can post the log from the transfer queue item here.

Thank you

Mat

I just can't figure out the new version. Can't tell if stuff is uploaded, etc. I've been back and forth with ver 2 & 3. I now have gone back to ver 2.5. It uploads files in order, says complete after each file, is fast and doesn't ask if you want to start the transfer queue (which I really don't get, I don't need a queue, just upload it already). Maybe I'll give version 4 a try. but til then I'll just stick with 2.5.
Sorry for the rant, but it's frustrating how an upgrade can make things so much more complicated.

The transfer queue only needs to be started once. The new version is a lot better as you don't have to supervise the transfers. Everything that is removed from the transfer queue is successfully transferred. Everything that stays there will be retried until it succeeds. In version 2.x you have to manually check the transfers which takes an extra step. I recommend you to take a look at the tutorials at: https://www.smartftp.com/support/howto
