XCRC on Transfers

Hi,

Newly licensesd user of SmartFTP. I see it says it supports XCRC, yet I don't see SmartFTP checking the CRC after a transfer. I have the option turned on.

Thanks,
John

Hello ..

For the XCRC feature to work your FTP server needs to support certain commands (XCRC, XMD5, etc). The FTP server announces these features in the FEAT reply. Please post the log of your FTP session and we will be able to tell you exactly what your server supports.

Oh. You need to use the "Transfer Queue" for the XCRC feature to work. You can find some howtos at:
https://www.smartftp.com/support/howto

-Mat

CRC only works for queue transfers, that is why you should use the queue.

I understand that is the case, but I am asking "Why?" Why can you not make it work with direct transfer?

John

You shouldn't really transfer anything with the "Direct" method. The "Direct" method lacks a lot of features as auto-reconnect, auto-resume and the crc check feature you are looking for. Use the Transfer Queue.

OK, I just like using the arrows between a remote and local browser to transfer files. Is there a way to make them use the queue?

Thanks,
John

Try Menu: Tools->Settings
General -> Navigation
"Default Drag&Drop Operation"
Set it to Queue.

There we go! Much better - I totally missed that option. OK, Next question then is, is there a way to see the log from the queued operations?

Thanks!!!

John

You can only see the log while the item is still in the queue or while its being processed. To see it double click on the item in the Transfer Queue list. After the item is successfully processed the log is lost.
But if you enable the Log option under the Settings->Advanced the log is stored in a file which you can view later.

OK, Thanks for all your help. Can I put in a feature request for some way to see completed queue transfers with their logs?

Thanks,
John
