FTP between Remote Sites

Hello,
This may seem a strange request but I'm trying to FTP between linux box's (no gui). I can easily do this using SH to source node and then FTP to the target node.

But my managers would prefer it, if I can acheive this from my(any) Windows client using one the many gui based ftp clients on offer.

So I've downloaded SmartFTP. When I run the software from a windows client I can ftp into the sorce node, and I can ftp into the target node, but I cannot transfer from source to target by dragging and dropping. I can an error message that says "502 illegal port command". Although I can create a folder by using the drag and drop option.

Is there a workaround to this problem? Installing a GUI is not an option on the linux box's is not an option as it does not have the resources to handle it.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

the feature you're referring to is called "FXP", FTP transfer from server to server. both servers need to be able and configured to do FXP, which does not seem to be the case with your servers. smartftp itself supports FXP and is able to initiate such a transfer between servers.
