I'd like to suggest that the "remote file -> right-click -> edit" feature is able to - either optionally, or as standard - bypass the file filters in place.
Currently I have a filter which blocks me from uploading my server-specific config file/s so I can simply upload an entire folder without overwriting the config at the other end. But, to edit the remote config file without disabling the filters I have to rename, edit/save and rename back.
