No files listed in directory listing

I have the forllowing problem, the files in the directory are not shown in smart FTP the file window only shows "parent folder". I guess it has to do with the character coding (the server is in China).

Any suggestions?

details
I want to see the directory on a HP Unix box (uname gives: HP-UX B.10.20 A 9000/800)
If I log on via terminal I can see the following
$ ls -la
total 2690
drwx------ 3 erik temp 2048 May 5 16:05 .
drwxr-xr-x+ 173 root root 3072 Apr 15 14:37 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 erik temp 815 Mar 6 2002 .cshrc
-rw-r--r-- 1 erik temp 347 Feb 22 2002 .exrc
-rw-r--r-- 1 erik temp 342 Mar 6 2002 .login
-rw-r--r-- 1 erik temp 622 Feb 27 2002 .profile
-rw------- 1 erik temp 1514 May 19 16:10 .sh_history
-rw-rw-rw- 1 erik temp 0 Dec 9 16:19 TMP1002.out
-rw-rw-rw- 1 erik temp 0 Dec 9 16:19 TMP1002.qte
etc

but in smartFTP nothing. I unchecked all directory listing options, and tried all listing encoding options.

requesting RAW directory returns

Please email the raw directory listing (attach the file to the email) you get from SmartFTP to bugreport attt smartftp.com

As you can see from the raw directory listing the FTP server is returning an 'unknown' data format. As you guessed the server returns the localized strings for the month and day. The easiest way and also the best to fix the problem is to force the FTP server running on the HP box to return the date formated in english.

Unfortunately I don't have admin rights over this FTP server.
Little chance to get them to change it.

Mail send to above stated address with the listing

The directoy listing data sent by the server is UTF8 encoded.

Unfortunately the time doesn't allow us to support exotic FTP directory listing. I'm sorry.

Thanks for your time taken writing a bugreport.

Regards,
