however smartfpt will only show mfgdb.b20, is there a reason why smartftp wont show files >2GB ?

I just noticed that the raw listings you posted are from the shell and these are not the raw listings returned by the FTP server.

Right-click on the remote folder in the remote view and then select "Show Raw Listings".
