Viewing Directories and Files on a MAC OSX Server

PLEASE HELP!!!

I am trying to ftp to a MAC server (OSX) from a PC (XP), when I log in to the root I see no directories. If I connect to a directory within that root, I see that directory but no sibling directories or files within that directory. This goes on the further I drill down into directories within directories as long as I am typing in the directory path.

ANYTHING offered would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

The following is my log:

SmartFTP v1.5.990.14
