Backing things Up

I had never used FTP until I went to add a PhPBB Forum (like this one) to my webstie. Someone suggested this was a great program to use and I have liked it very much--THANK You! ( I need to get a little log and button to add to my site where I list all the different things that have supported its creations!)

This might be a silly question--However I am not sure and would rather ask first.

I am Backing my Whole Website up for the first time (better late then never) Onto re-writable CD Rom.

I have done the Database Backup no problem from the ACP with Php...

I asked on my Host Site what is the Best Way to Back up and was told that FTP would be easy and the best!

So--I am in the SmartFTP and connected....ready to go...

Is Download what I want to do? I don't want to take the file off the site...

If Download is the correct way--should I just Drag and Drop everything with the Local Browser open and drop it on the CD?

Or is there some better way to BACK up my Forum and my main website?

I understand this may be a silly question--so Thank You for being Nice.

Hi, you really don't need to download the forum to make a backup, with the database is enough, then on new site you need to upload the forum downloaded from www.phpbb.com

Thank you very much for this advice.
