Don't know if this is a bug or not.. but it's very inconvenient and a deal-breaker.. I love the program but this problem made me switch to another FTP client.
The problem is FOCUS. When I switch away to another task and switch back again, your application seems to lose track of where the cursor focus was. As a programmer this is really annoying since I use the keyboard a lot, and having to click the mouse on the SmartFTP window each time I switch back makes it pretty useless in a multitasking environment.
Apart from that, I prefer it over other clients, but the hassles caused by this problem are huge enough to make it unsuitable for me. If you fix it in a future version, I'll be there.
