ftp to MVS - default to HFS Mode

Is there a way to start up in an HFS directory (e.g. /usr/lpp/server_root) instead of the dataset mode.

This is use to be the default, but has changed, and now none of my favorites for MVS systems work correctly.

I don't know what HFS or MVS stands for, but you can specify the server folder to start in upon login in the favorite's settings.

The problem is known but at the moment we cannot allocate more engineering resources to work around such issues. If there is more interest from paying customers we will change our mind.

Thanks

Well, we've got a few thousand folks here that might find this program a lot more useful if it had an DataSet or HFS Directory option.

Most all of our applications are IBM Mainframe based, running in WebSphere. So we work in both the Unix Services and MVS world.

Right now we use WSFTP pro, but it is so slow, we would prefer to use SmartFTP. Due to this change those of us who have been trying SmartFTP will have to revert back.

But as you say, we have yet to become 'paying customers'

Please post the log of the FTP session and we will see what we can do.

Make sure you are using the latest SmartFTP version available at:

Thanks

Here is a sample from when I log in. I have specified a start-up directory of /usr/lpp/internet/server_root/users/olv, however my '/' is automatically being converted to '.' for this path, which causes the CWD command to fail.

Please try it again with the latest build:
https://www.smartftp.com/download

The initial directory is now longer converted and sent as it is to the server.

SmartFTP

Awesome! works great now (just like before)

Thanks for the quick turn around, I'll have to see what we can do about getting some licenses.

thx again

No problem. Thanks for testing as well :-)

I hope the BA users are happy now.
