Not happy with new upgrade -- Need link to older version

S~!

I have been a loyal smart ftp user for the last several years. It has always been very very good. I just installed the recent update and am sad to say I am not at ALL happy. The once fantastic performance I enjoyed in now gone. The software takes forever to upload the smallest file. It takes ages to see directories where it was almost instantaneous before. I have a 3mb down 1mb up connection that is working perfectly so it is not that.

Can someone point me to the previous version of the software please. I would like to unistall the upgrade and go back till these issues are fixed.

I have 1.1.985 on my computer. I can email it to you if you want. PM me or post your email address.

Hi, you can disable the xcrc/md5/etc settings to get old style working.

Hi,
I have also just downloaded the 988 version after using 984 for quite a while. All uploads now pause for about 60 seconds after the upload before the thread picks up a new file to upload. I have disabled the new settings but it is still the same.
It is almost like the thread doesn't pick up a new file until the timeout period has elapsed. Retry delay is 1 sec and connection timeout is 60 secs. I'll test that theory a bit later when I have some time.
Also no matter what I set the threads to in the transfer panel, it runs between 26 and 36.
I notice when I upload a single web page if I move the cursor over the remote window it shows an hourglass for about a minute after I start the upload. The page is sent to the server immediately because I can see it if I refresh my browser. Then after about a minute the remote window refreshes, and the hour glass goes away.
I'm uploading about 1600 pages at the moment on an 8Mb pipe, and the transfer speed window shows a 0 most of the time but every 60 seconds there is a surge of uploading for about 10 seconds, then nothing again.
-
I just halved the timeout from 60 secs to 30 secs, and now I get a burst of traffic every 30 secs and my throughput has gone up a lot. It might just be the network, but could someone check if they see the same thing.
I don't think the timeout value should be being used after a successful upload before the thread picks up a new file to upload.

Please post the log of your FTP session. Is it only with uploads or with downloads as well? Are you using SSL? Any proxy between you and the server?

Regards,
-Mat

Here is one of the logs. The transfer completes in 6 seconds, but the data connection doesn't close until the 30 second timeout period is reached.

Hopefully this is enough data, but let me know if you need anything more.

Here is another problem that I don't understand. This looks like a lot of retrys but the log doesn't indicate that there was any error. I had the number of threads set to 40 but during the download the active threads varied between 28 and 31 of 40.

It really looks like the retry delay which is 1 second, and the connection timeout of 30 seconds have been reversed.

OK that is the bug. I went into tools - settings and set timeout to 1 second, and retry delay to 30 seconds and the upload goes great.
150 files in about 4 seconds!
