Uploading Files via SmartFTP

I'm VERY, VERY new to the FTP world so I hope these questions don't sound to dumb. I recently saved a "LINK DIRECTORY" containing website addresses of potential link partners onto my desktop. I would like to upload these files into my Webserver via the SmartFTP software.
Question #1
How do I load this Directory into the SmartFTP software?
Question #2
How do I upload these files/directory from SmartFTP software into my web server?

PS: I've had the SmartFTP trial version for 30 days and I've been trying to figure out how to do the above questions for all 30 days. HELP!

I would like to be able to auto upload files to my FTP site on the server on a schedule, but global queue doesn't seem to accept files from my local HDD to let me tweak the schedule. Am I doing something wrong?

1) Make sure you have the transfer Window open. [ctrl+q]
2) in the Queue Source, drag the file
3) right click on the file you dropped, click properties
4) enter the destination <host, path, etc.>
5) right click on the file you dropped, click schedule
6) enter the schedule you like to use

Thanks.. it just wasn't obvious in the docs....
