Parse Error Message

Hello,

I am having some problems with uploading an .htm file. When I attempt to type in the URL in my browser, I get the following error message:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /client/home/vandomselaarmot/docs/Loriindex.htm on line 1

Can anyone explain to me what this means, or point me in the right direction to find the information? I am really new at this..

It seems the .htm file runs through a PHP parser. Check for <? occurances in your html file and remove them.

My Line 1 is this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>

I deleted it, and now when I type in the URL, I get a basically blank page, with a HOME link (even though I have deleted the corresponding Rollover Image in Dreamweaver)
And It just says " Transferring data from www.vandomselaarmotorsport.com..." along the bottom, but nothing happens.

Is there something I am missing when it comes to uploading my images???
