I might be mistaken but chmod only applies to servers other than windows IIs I had a go round getting a phpBB2 forum going on my IIs server that had me going starking raving mad LOL
I was using the free Invision boards that crashed weekly and dumped all your info and finally went it on my own.
Weather this applies to your situation I don't know but I thought I'd throw it out there incase any other n00bs like me are running IIs servers and trying to get a forum going. I had a extra box running 2003 server on my linky router and thought it would be fun for my bike riding buddies and I to have a place we could all trade stories and files and whatnot. Uh right.
Me having zero experience with any of the 3 required softwares but being a fair comp person muddled my way through it in about 3 days of head banging and swearing
Between getting My SQL and PHP setup and then putting the forum files on the server (I had it easier since the server is on my LAN but since most info I came across was for remote servers it didn't make allot of sense to me at the time LOL)
I finally found that windows uses "permissions" DOH
instead of CHMOD Once I figured that out it was a simple right click properties and changed properties to read and write on a couple files, entered the address with the php setup command and like magic everything suddenly began doing what I had read about so many times
I was so proud of my self ! LOL I'm still a total n00b but my little board has been going for 1 1/2 years 5000+ posts without a hitch.
We all gotta learn and never be afraid to ask a question. My Dad once told me there are no stupid questions, if ya don't ask ya may never know..... (not entirely true but it helps )
Good Luck, Aloha, LoLo
