Can someone please tell me why when I go to connect it says its going to connect to my site but then says "an invalid argument was supplied...connection closed."????? Thank you to anyone who replies and helps me I really appreciate it!

at half the height there's a control which lists timestamps and messages like "227 Entering Passive Mode". that's the connection log. just copy & paste it's contents here after your connection attempt failed.

are you running some kind of firewall (sp2's, norton, zonealarm)? if so, shut it down completely and try again. or have you recently used some anti-spy removal-tool? then this may help: http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html

ok i tried to shut down all of my firewalls and i think i did but it still wont work...i was able to connect to it on a different computer but still do not know why it wont work on mine...it still says the same thing about the invalid argument being supplied

I had the same "an invalid argument was supplied" error message. I had absolutely no problem connecting to multiple FTP servers using other FTP clients (WS FTP Pro, CuteFTP), but I couldn't connect with SmartFTP. I turned off my firewall software and turned it back on, and it still wouldn't work. Finally, I opened the firewall problem and manually added SmartFTP to the list of the "trusted" programs that connect to the internet. I restarted my firewall and now SmartFTP works like a charm. 8)
