undeletable files

when i upload files sometimes they are given strange names and cannot be deleted.

for example .pureftpd-upload.41bb4e46.15.14d.c4da5f2c

when i try to delete it it says

200 Zzz...
DELE .pureftpd-upload.41bb4e46.15.14d.c4da5f2c
550 Prohibited file name: .pureftpd-upload.41bb4e46.15.14d.c4da5f2c

i have a really small server and cant afford to keep these files up, how can i get rid of them?

Hi GrantB - hmmm.. that's odd. I think they're probably just temp files that will disappear in due course, or you could contact your web host and ask them to delete them for you. (try to chmod the files to 755 and then delete it if you can - don't know if that'll work though)

I'm sure somebody with more knowledge than me will have a better suggestion....
