Why cant I connect??

Configure your firewall to add SmartFTP to your allowed list.

i dont have a firewall cept the windows filewall I just check if it would let me it was already ticked.

I'm having the same problem/same message.

I've got Windows XP but don't have SP2. I've got McAfee Firewall but it is supposedly allowing SmartFTP.

And like the others said, no FTP program is working.

Hiya

I run XP and zonealarm, and am behind a router firewall... zonealarm seems okay as long as the computer isn't 'left' for a while - a reboot will fix it, but I just turn it off sometimes - as long as your ports are all secure (go to www.grc.com and take the shields up test etc) then all should be okay I would think. Zonealarm's older versions were heaps less trouble - I think it clashes with a few things...

Cheers

I'm having this same problem, and I'm very frustrated. :x

I've been using SmartFTP on a Windows 98 computer for two years, and have been very pleased with it. Now I have a new XP machine, and can't get connected to my web site. Like the original poster, I've tried other FTP programs and other sites, with the same results.

I use McAfee firewall, set to allow SmartFTP. The Windows firewall is disabled. I have no router.

I've installed AdAware and quarantined everything it found (all cookies).

Has anyone found a solution?
