sFTP and putty

Hi,

I'm trying to log onto a sFTP server using SmartFTP and I'm stuck. Dreamweaver logs on okay, as does WinSCP, but I'd really like to use SmartFTP if I can. I'm running WinXP Home, SmartFTP 1.0 Build 981 and the free version of Zonealarm.

The knowledgebase recommends using putty.exe, but I can't figure out how to make it work. So far, I'm launching putty, creating a tunnel for an unused port (xxxx), and logging on to my sFTP server. So far no problem. Then I go to SmartFTP and try to log onto localhost port xxxx. At this point I get an error: " No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it." Adding localhost to my trusted zones in Zonealarm didn't make any difference. I know that sometimes XP's firewall conflicts so I disabled it as well. No difference.

Any help?

Thanks in advance,

Walt
