How to completely TRASH SmartFTP in one easy lesson!

This is under Windows XP Pro, btw!

It's easy. All you do is deleted the "settings" in your personal (Documents and Settings) folder. No matter how many times you try to repair or de-install then re-install, SmartFTP will not work

Okay, it was a dumb thing to do, but I would have thought that this kind of error would be very easy to trap and deal with

Here's the full story.

I recently re-formatted and re-installed everything, but I forgot that my drives had changed letters when I used the "restore settings" option of the Backup tool. This tool, of course, restored it's settings to the (now) wrong place. Without thinking, I simply deleted the settings from this "wrong" place. That's it!

I can't even start the program to do a "system info" thing as described in the README. Sorry!

Anyway...
