Uploaded files not viewable

I'm new to this so excuse my ingnorance. I have uploaded the files from local folder onto the site I'm creating. Everything reads that the transfer was complete when checking the site nothing appears on it. The file added was a jpeg file for instance. Is this where I'm going wrong?

if, when you connect, you see a list of folders, one of which could be public_html, you must upload into that folder. other than that, check your the URL your using to display the image.

if the jpg is in CMYK then you won't be able to view it on the site either.
