Smart FTP on CD? Help!

Hi,

very basic question here but I am a complete novice . . .I am looking for a way to update my site from internet cafes whilst travelling and my host does not allow ftp via browsers - apparently for security reasons?

can I use smartFTP from a CD, or does it acutally need to be installed?

many thanks

Huey

anyone??

thanks!

I am pretty sure it has to be installed, in fact 100% sure.

It doesnt have to be installed. You can use it from a read only medium.

What that means my friend is that you copy your SmartFTP install directory wholesale and burn it onto a CD. Then while you're away from your home box you just run the smartftp.exe on your CD.

If you want your favorites (data) you better copy the data dir (default for xp is: [C:Documents and Settings**yourusername**Application DataSmartFTP] to the install dir and set the path in preferences before you copy>burn.

You following that?? If not you better use a true standalone like filezilla.
