I have a new windows 8.1 PC and Smart ftp keeps timing out

I just purchased a new windows 8.1 PC and I downloaded the latest 64 bit download and it keeps timing out on the reading the root directory. I downloaded the same onto a windows 7 machine that is being replaced, and it runs fine. Is there an issue with the client on a windows 8.1 machine. Or is there a solution as to why it will not connect while reading the root directory. I have uninstalled rebooted and re installed nothing seems to help I just keep getting this in the log.
Path successfully resolved to root
reading directory root
Time out 60s
ssh channel closed by client
I have let it try several times and it still will not read the directory

SmartFTP works fine on Windows 8.1. Please contact support and send the logs: menu: Help->Request Support

Even Microsoft admit that no FTP client will work in Windows 8.1 with IE 11. They also have no plans to fix the problem.

No such claims from Microsoft exist. Please do not spread false information.
