Multiple access to remote editing files

SmartFTP has the feature called Remote Edit. What I wonder is, what if one user is remote editing the file, then another user login and try to remote edit the same file. What will happen? Is there any lock that SmartFTP has to at least warn the second user that this file is currently editing by another user?

It is assumed that only one user is editing the file at the time.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
My case is that, it is indeed likely that multiple users remote edit the same file at the same time. This is quite an essential requirement for my users. Is there any way that you guys can at least add in a warning message for the subsequent users if the file is remotely editing by some other user? If this can be done, then I would have no problem to recommend my users about this software.

We're using F Server by the way.

No this is not possible. The FTP protocol does not offer such a feature and has not been designed for this purpose.
