Can't FTP large files

I am doing backups on a dedicated server and have a zipped file that is over 30GB (30,000,000KB).
When I FTP a copy of the zip file onto my computer - its stops at 4,194,304KB.

It gives me this reading:
[23:40:40] 421 No-transfer-time exceeded. Closing control connection.
[23:40:40] Server closed connection

I tried to FTP on other large backup files and it still stops at 4,194,304.
I went into the Tools settings and cannot find any settings that limits the size transfer.
What am I doing wrong???

I do have a purchased license of SmartFTP.
Help?

Post the transfer log. You can get it by double clicking the file in the transfer queue window.

Are you sure your server supports files > 4GB?

Regards,
Mat

Please contact your web hosting provider for assistance.

I saw that but not sure why it is saying that?
My server has enough space (I do daily & weekly backups without any issues) and where I am FTP-ing to on my computer has 1TB of space.

Ah my bad, it is actually your local disk where you are downloading the file to.

I don't think that is it but you just sparked something in my head.
Let me test this out.

The zipped file on my server is 5.7GB.
I already FTP this file but was only able to transfer 4,194,302KB
Retrying .....
It will take about 2 hours for this transfer.

Stay tune ..........

Pfffttt!

Mystery Solved!
The culprit - my 1TB Western Digital G-book. I purchased a 1TB external harddrive to store all by server file backups.

Thanks MB!
What you said, "local disk where you are downloading the file to" sparked the fact that I never FTP any files greater than 4.2GB onto my personal desktop computer. They have all gone into the G-Book.
Currently I only consumed less than half of the 1TB in my G-book so it never occurred to me there was not 'enough' space.

Well, I FTP to a folder on my desktop and the entire 5.7GB file transferred. Success!

Thanks again!
