Repeaded connection dropping

Hi,

I'm trying out SmartFTP and have a fairly serious problem. Firstly when ever i change directories i have to re-connect and refresh. Then during transfers it regularly losses connection and then reconnects. Earlier to transfer a 10 MB file took about 5 transfers and 8 total logins to the server as the file was a few folders deep. This problem does not occur on other FTP clients that i use on the server.

I'm using the latest 64-bit build

Thank you for your help

EDIT: Forgot to mention server is running vsftpd and the connection is over Explicit TLS

Please post the log showing the problem.

There is a known problem with vsftpd. It does not support ssl connection caching as it should.

Hi,

I transferred a handfull of 40MB rar files and zipped up the log for connecting the the server and for the transfer. It didn't re-connect as much as it normally does, but it still did it. I have uploaded them here:

Thanks

It seems you have changed the timeout value by mistake to 3:
[2009-04-23T19:20:52] Transfer Timeout (3s). Closing data connection.

Set it to 30s and try again. You can do this in the Connection dialog in the favorite properties.

Mat

Ah ok thanks, don't remember doing that, thanks.

Hi,

This still hasn't fixed the problem, the only difference now is it waits 30 seconds before giving up and then tries again, simply prolonging the transfer time. I'll play around with the other settings see if i find anything.
