How to connect to LAN computer with SmartFTP?

Can someone please instruct me how I can connect to a computer in my home network from another computer in the same home network? Do I need to set certain permissions on that computer? I know I probably have to put in the IP address (192.168.x.x), but what user pass do I use?

Any help would be great.

Hello ..

You need to setup an FTP server on one of your computers. For example you can get the free quick and easy ftp server from:
http://www.pablosoftwaresolutions.com/download.php?id=7

Then you can use SmartFTP to connect to the FTP server.

Actually... I'm running into a problem now, and this happens sometimes with SmartFTP with regular usage. It starts transfering files successfully, but then it just stops and all the files say "Retry at [time]". How do I fix that?

I'm not quite sure what you mean. What do you mean complete log from the start? If you're talking about the main log window (the one below the file explorer), then I'm not sure why, but it doesn't have a lot in it. What always happens is that a lot of files get moved, and then like stated the transfer just stops (with the retry problem). At some point the client and server get out of sync and at this point the transfers start to fail. This must happen in the transfer queue. The point where it happens is probably in the log from the last successful item/file transfer. So we need to save all logs. To do this go to the menu: Tools->Settings. And then go to the General->Advanced dialog and enable logging. Now start your transfers. Then zip all the log files created and send them to us. It is very important if you are run some tests before or after that you clear the log folder otherwise it will be hard to find the correct log.

The other thing you can try is installing another FTP server. For example you can try this product:

Hello,

I started the logging and immediately start transferring files. I stopped the transfer and closed SmartFTP when the retry problem started. Here is everything in the log folder:

Wow, it's been running for hours now without interruption. Now, only a few files have the "retry" problem, but the rest is working just fine. I guess it had something to do with the other FTP server program. The Filezilla server application is working better. I'll let you know if I run into other problems.
