upload speed question-FTP vs test

this isn't necessarily specific to SmartFTP, but can anyone tell me why FTP speeds are sooooo slow compared to benchmarks. For instance, I have Fiber Optic internet, and have upload speeds of around 2mps. However, using SmartFTP, I can only upload at around 150-250kps.

Is the FTP architecture just slow, is my ISP throttling me, or is it something else???

SmartFTP displays the speed in bytes/s. So 250KB/s is actually 2mps.

You can also adjust the buffer sizes:

that was an easy answer....almost everything is listed in bits (makes everything sound faster than it is), that I didn't notice SmartFTP is in bytes. Thanks for your help
