"An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine"

Hey!
It's probably a stupid question but I hope someone might help me. So I'm trying to connect to my ftp-site via SmartFTP as usual, and out of nowhere I cannot and the information goes as follows:

[18:38:57] SmartFTP v2.0.997.4
[18:38:58] Resolving host name "ftp.xx.xxx.com"
[18:38:58] Connecting to xxx.xxx.xx.xx Port: 21
[18:38:58] Connected to ftp.xx.xxx.com.
[18:38:58] An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.

What should I make of this? I have not downloaded any new software to my computer lately... What could be the problem?
I would be so grateful if anyone knew what the problem could be.

Hello ..

1. Install the latest version of SmartFTP from:
https://www.smartftp.com/download

2. Post the complete log without removing the host name.

Hi,

I'm getting the same msg. Latest version of sFTP (v3.0.1013.2), windows firewall turned off, no other firewall software installed, stopped "Application Layer Gateway Service". Logs into the ftp server, then ->

...
[09:02:28] TYPE A
[09:02:28] 200 Type set to A.
[09:02:28] MODE Z
[09:02:28] 200 MODE Z ok.
[09:02:28] PASV
[09:02:29] An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
[09:02:29] Server closed connection

...any ideas greatly appreciated!
