Restarting SmartFTP to initiate changes?

From some other posts, I am beginning to suspect that some changes to the options in SmartFTP require a restart to actually work.

I am in the middle of a large upload at the moment, so can't check for a while.

If so, this seems completely unnecessary to me, and a bad design feature from the point of view of users. A restart should only be necessary when it is infeasible to cause an option change to work immediately, which is not the case for the examples I have problems with.

I will look into this further when possible. Sorry, if I am jumping to conclusions here, but this should be quickly clarified.
