cannot open sub-folders (on a windows FTP server)

i downloaded smartFTP 2.0.1002 today. It seems that i can connect to all Unix type of FTP servers, however, i have problem when the FTP server is on Windows.
i was able to login and in the home folder. i can also see the subfolders showing on the right-hand panel. however, i cannot double-click on the subfolders to go in. after i double-click, the folder would show a little red dot on the folder icon... is this a known bug? thanks!
The error messages is
[15:44:05] CWD /E Drive/AMD/From_teckwah
[15:44:05] 550 /E: No such file or folder.

however, when we used SwitchIP program, we were able to open the subfolders without problem.
i would find out what FTP server software they are using, however, if SwitchIP works, then smartFTP should be able to handle it as well.
