We downloaded your application to test out and was almost ready to purchase until we are hit with a trojan horse virus!
This virus was detected when we were uploading files from local computer to the ftp folder residing on our web server. Norton Antivirus has flashed an Intruder Alert, trojan horse from SmartFTP has been detected.
We downloaded your application from you website around 18 November 2006. We found in your forum that this is not the first time you have been hit with trojan horse. You are hit with it between 11.3.2006 to 13.3.2006. And it seems that you have been hit again.
I am very disappointed with this as it means my web server may have been compromised too. This make me lose confident of the product that I am initially quite impressed with.

First mistake... Nortons. Since Peter sold the company there has been nothing but trouble with their anti-virus. It gives plenty of false alarms and allows too much to get thru.
I checked with Norton's just for the heck of it, and it gave the trojan warning. Using Avast (yet another program with the same great licensing as SmartFTP - as in free for home use, pay for commercial license), it found nothing.
(after I switched to Avast, it found 110 virus and maleware that Nortons did not even note. This was a year ago and I run it on all mu computers now and have (knock on wood) I haven't hd one problem. )
So just to restate, Nortons gave false on SmartFTP (though the latest build it does not.)
