/ in FTP browser?

Hi,

I have fired up Smart FTP and there is a / in FTP browser, why???

Also my www.mysite.com has an Index of / and 5 directories. I was looking for http doc or http public file and there is not one. How do I go about adding one in my server. Any suggestions.
