Am getting the following error message on Windows 98 OS

[10:53:27] SmartFTP v2.0.996.25
[10:53:33] sfFTPLib is not licensed.
[10:53:33] Cannot login waiting to retry (30s)

I have previously used the program to contact this server with no problems. The error message suggests that I am missing a license key but I thought I could use this software without a license for non commercial purposes.
