Why are my pictures missing?

I have recently made changes to a website page that I inherited and although the text changes have uploaded fine it would appear that most of the jpegs havent! I have broken links where pictures should be. Any ideas?
When I downloaded the file I got a page with a folder full of icons so I just made changes and uploaded both.
