I was wondering if SmartFTP has a feature that will automatically rename files that contain invalid characters for you before upload. I realize that FTP servers are different and some support characters that others don't, but there must some commonality amongst most of them. Or maybe make a configuration that will allow you to specify what characters are valid/invalid. Specifically I'm concerned with spaces. It would be nice to convert the spaces into _ to make the easy to read. I'll post in the feature request forum if this is already not an option that I missed. BTW, I'm running version 1.5.991 which is the most current public release as of this post.
