Admin Attitude may be losing SmartFTP business

Why offer a free service?

Most companies offer a free service in the hopes that a small minority of customers will pay for their services, and the word of mouth that the service is free, will drive more customers to their site, the more free customers and positive word of mouth, the better chance that a small minority will pay for the service. This appears to be the business model of Google, Yahoo, and other prominent web pages.

Administrators are frustrating this business model with their caustic remarks. Like many computer programmers, they have high intellegence, and are very knowlegable of certain areas, but they are unable to socialize well with others and make poor customer service represenatives and resolve customer concerns poorly.

Please see the following examples:

Developer solicits question: Is SmartFTP easy to use?

Then attacks a user who states that it is not:

I ask the question: Is there an easier FTP program than SmartFTP? Then find an easier program to use, and post it here, this is the administrators response:

Thanks for your time and allowing me to voice my concerns, that is part of the reason you have a public business web blog is for, correct?

I've certainly never encountered this problem here. As a user of "free" software, I think it is my responsibility to support (help)myself as much as possible. The creators of SmartFTP have given me a lot of information to solve a *lot* of my own problems and I just beat the search button until I find it.
