Unix Vs Windows Formats For Txt (php) Files

Hi,

We have a situation where 2 people are working on some site developments and one is using a Unix box and one (me) is using Windows.

Is there a way I can get SmartFTP to auto convert the control chrs in the Unix files so I see the files in the same format as they were on the Windows box ?

Cheers

Simon

Hi, give a try to Ultraedit 32 for that, also you can found some freeware products with edit unix text formats but i can't renember names atm.

Using a professional text editor as Aokromes suggested is by far the best solution (there are also plenty of very good freeware editors). However, SmartFTP can perform Unix / DOS line end conversion when transfering files. To do so, you need to transfer the files in ASCII mode. This can be archieved by setting the "Default Transfer Mode" to "Auto" and adding "*.php" to the "ASCII File List" unter "Transfer" -> "ASCII / Binary" in the settings.
